Kotor Properties

The special character of Kotor has been determined by its history. Kotor was always a place of mixture of styles: Byzantine and western European. For centuries Kotor had been the crossroad of trading routes. Kotor is the one of major tourist destinations in Montenegro and part of its popularity lies in the spirit of one of the best preserved medieval old towns in Balkan and its position in one of the most beautiful bays in Europe - Boka Kotorska, in english translation Bay of Kotor. The old town of Kotor is listed and protected UNESCO world heritage site with many historical monuments and rich medieval architecture. A strong Venetian influence shaped the stones and buildings in old Town. It is filled with numerous cafe bars and small restaurants.

Kotor is not a big town, population around 14.000. But the property market is very lively. Property agencies usually concentrate their business not only on Kotor but whole Boka Bay. Near Kotor there are several smaller, very attractive settlements with very high demand for properties, including Dobrota (which is part of Kotor municipality), beautiful Perast and on the other side Prcanj. A property buying rush caused considerable rise in property prices, particularly in those smaller places (Kotor itself was quite valued even before the rush begun). The reports saying that there has been up to 80% rise in prices along this area in the last year only. Good news is that majority of respectable property magazines and analysts predict that this trend will keep up for a few years at least you if you plan to buy a property in Kotor or along the Bay it may be a worthy investment.
